You could also purchase a foam piece and cut it to fit with a big
serrated knife. Some big fabric stores will even cut it for you.
Foam comes in many thicknesses and densities. This does make fitted
sheets a little difficult tho.
You also might consider putting a cardboard mock up, using cardboard
boxes. Then you can see exactly what the sticking out part would be
like for traffic. You can throw a bedspread over it to see how it looks.
