JP,
Your welcome. All cars now use a grease. It looks kinda white. It's called
dielectrric grease. They grease the base receptacle for the bulb, and the
bulb too. You can't really use too much. Any grease or even vasoline will
do. Grease is a hydrocarbon and promotes conductivity, not diminish it. As
you get time, just remove the lense, bulb, and use a battery terminal
cleaner to clean inside the socket, or get a small plumbers copper pipe
bruse at your hardware store and stick it in there and twist until the
socket holder is clean and bright. Replace the discolored bulb as it's not
worth cleaning time. Then just goop it all up with some type of grease. Use
a Q tip. It's messy but works.
Now you will want to wipe off the bulb glass when done with a tissue since
you don't want smeary old grease on that plus it will collect dust. The
grease will keep it clean and prevent moisture and corrosion from comming
back. Grease everything electrical, especially that trailer connector,
battery terminals, that running light and coach shell before you screw it
down. Then wipe excess.
You can do it. It works!
