Sounds like hooey to me, does your electrician have experience with 12V
DC systems ?
Also, get rid of the Univolt, it eats up batteries by being insensitive
and over cooking them. Get a Progressive Dynamics charger/inverter which
will be quieter and more kind to your battery.
