Hi Jon,
You should replace your AC unit with a "Fantastic Vent". It runs on 12 volt
dc & will fill the hole left by your old AC unit. When the factory built
your trailer, they ran 12 volt dc wiring & 110 volt ac wiring to the area
where your AC unit is located. It should be a simple job of wire nutting the
end of the ac wire left by the AC unit & connecting the new Fantastic Vent
to the 12 volt dc circuit that is waiting for you in the ceiling. You can
purchase Fantastic Vents in a variety of configurations, one of which
includes a "rain sensor" that may be of interest to people in your climate.
I believe www.vintagetrailersupply.com will be carrying Fantastic Vents
shortly in a configuration that suits a vintage Airstream or you can find
them elsewhere online.
Good luck with your project,
Colin Hyde
