This does sound like a good repair - when I repaired the floor of my 59
traveler I used tons of epoxy and it was solid as a rock - on my 58
overlander, I coated the edges of the new floor with epoxy. It sounds to
me like you were able to "slip" the new section in with the old bolts which
I think as long as the new piece supports the c channel - which it will -
you are good to go....
