That oil can was used for rubber cement thinner, otherwise known as Bestine. 
The rubber cement was too thick to be dispensed in a can with such a narrow 
spout like this. We always applied the rubber cement with the in-cap brush 
and it was always One-Coat cement. now those were the days.
