Re: [VAL] Pickup topper

We have an aluminum topper on our F250 crew cab SB. We are pleased with
the choice. It is light and relatively inexpensive (compared to some
fiberglass toppers). Ours has tool boxes on the sides, where I keep
things we want to access quickly, such as lash-up equipment, tools, 5
gal of diesel. I also ordered it with a solid tail gate (no window) for
security. The only time I need to use the rear view mirror is when
backing; then I simply flip up the tail gate.
I've owned 4 toppers, one two-part topper (back half slides up under
the front half), a snap on tonneau and a roll up tonneau. Each has
their good points and bad. For what we're doing now- full-timing with
four bikes and a bunch of tools in the back- I find the aluminum topper
with side tool boxes is ideal. Access to the stuff in the bed is
greatly improved with a BedSlide- a low profile drawer of sorts that
extends ~ 80%, allowing easy access to everything in the truck bed.
