    Years ago my brother painted the logo on his vintage auto's hubcaps with
spray paint right from the can.  He used liquid soap and a Q-Tip to cover
the surrounding areas of the logo and taped the rest outboard of that center
area.  When the paint coats had dried, he removed the tape and newspaper and
gently washed the dish soap away leaving a perfectly repainted hub cap.

    the beauty of a Q-Tip or for that matter, a small oil paint brush is
that you can apply the soap quite precisely.  If you goof up a spot, you
simply wipe it off and reapply it.
