Hi Steve -
Those big red (maybe faded now) numbers signify the membership number  
in the WBCCI (Wally Byam Caravan Club Int'l). Wally was the inventer  
of the Airstream back in the mid-30's. Those number were actually a  
type of vinyl lettering and don't come off easily. What are the  
numbers on your trailer?
