Re: [VAL] RE: VAL Model name?

Hi Colin:

"Trade Wind" was the model name for the 1963 (and nearby) year(s)
24' Airstream trailer.

In 1962, the base trim level Trade Wind was the "standard" model
that had all 110 volt a.c. appliances and had only "Airstream" shown on
its blue rectangular serial number plate. In 1962, the intermediate
trim level was the self-contained "Land Yacht" option package and the
top of the line trim level was the "International" option package. If
the trailer was built at the factory with the first option package, the
serial number plate would include "Land Yacht" underneath "Airstream" on
the serial number plate. The option packages were cumulative, so the
the trailer was built at the factory with the top of the line
"International" trim level option package, its serial number plate would
state "International Land Yacht" underneath the "Airstream" name.

In 1963, Airstream discontinued the based level "standard" 110 volt
a.c. appliance trailer and all Airstreams became self-contained, so the
"Land Yacht" became the new base model Airstream beginning in 1963.
As before, the top of the line trim level trailer was the "International
Land Yacht" in 1963 and during the balance of the 1960s.

Toby & Rich: Does the "Tradewind" model name on your 1960 trailers
appear stamped into a small (about 1" x 3") rectangular plate, or is it
in script letters that are mounted directly into the aluminum skin?
