[VAL] Re-hinging a door
Alas I take my 1976 Airstream into very rough country because that's
where I like to camp. Along side a creek of known good water, at 8,000
feet AMSL where it's cool and the fishing is truly good.
The last 30 miles is dirt in sometimes bad condition. But even in
good condition it tests the hinges on all the doors. On of the doors at
the head of a bed came loose last year. The hinge broke on the bottom
and I didn't have another. So just got 2 more hinge sets from Oasis RV
in Tucson and in 90 F weather I got the two new hinges riveted to the
aluminum frame and the door screwed onto the hinges top and bottom.
This is the last door that was screwed into the aluminum frame. I
caught 3 others and redid them with pop rivites and they are all still
fine. For some reason the screws just worked out of the frames. Rivit's
don't do that.
