When the guy replaced mine, the internal duct work was done 
with flexible round ducts to connect to the old ones, kinda 
line drier vent hose but aluminum ( what's not to like ?) On 
the outside, he had to put in a new plate over the 
vent/intake area and put the in/out in a different place. He 
also had to raise upt the new furnace a little.

The new ones take up a lot less space under the sink, but I 
don't think you can just slide it into the old box.
