[VAL] blowouts

I have a 1960, 22 foot, single axle, Land Yacht Airstream trailer.  I have 
put on two load range D trailer tires, rated at 2540 lbs each, on the 
Airstream.  In the last four years I have had three blowouts.  Can anyone 
tell me how to eliminate this  problem?  Can I get higher rated tires?
