[VAL] RE: Bellypan Rivet Repair

Joe, You are way overthinking this...
Best bet is to do/use whatever works, without creating any unneeded
protrusions.

At each hole use the minimum fastener required, starting with a simple
1/8" aluminum pop-rivet (original), and then depending on how much of
the skin has been worn away or damaged or the hole in the frame has been
enlarged, move on up to a 5/32 or 3/16 pop-rivet. What I've found is
ideal is a large 1/2" head pop-rivet made by Arrow fasteners, available
at almost all home centers & hardware stores. Your repair washer idea
is fine too. The rivet should be aluminum, as it is the head surface in
surface contact with the skin that is the most corrosion sensitive.
Best of luck,
RJ
