Stan, I had the same problem when I refurbished a 73, 31 Ft. A/S. I wanted to keep the awning and used 2.5 to 3 inches 1/8 inch aluminum square to mount the awning support and then to the trailer. This worked very well and looked good. Bud J 82 280 Turbo Diesel
