Do you have a micrometer?  Chances are you will need one at some point in
time so if you don't have one to measure with you might think about buying
one now that you are doing repairs.  A micrometer can be bought that
measures from 0" - 1" ,1" - 2", etc.  Buy the 0" - 1" for your current
application and read up on how to read the measurements.   A good micrometer
will give you measurements up into the 10/thousandths of an inch.
