[VAL] Water heater leak

The original Atwood water heater in my '76 Tradewind 25' appears to be 
leaking. For the past year, I have been seeing a small drip from the 
belly pan below the heater, which has now gotten larger, but I can't 
pinpoint the source. Should I just go ahead and replace the heater 
(Camping World sells a replacement for approx. $250 + $100 install)? Is 
there anything else I should do first?
Any advice would be appreciated.
