The mechanic across the street from my dad-in-law installed hydraulic brakes from a later model on a '36 (?) Ford coupe last year. He said it was nice to have brakes that actually slowed the car, even if they were only 1939 drum brakes - they were a lot better than the mechanical (rod) brakes. Al
