Good Morning,

Since we are all in withdrawal with no email, here's a problem for you.

Right now, I'm actually living in my '73 Ambassador, in a campground in
Bolton MA. It's a long story.

Anyway, I have a really hard time getting my sewer hose hooked up
without leaks. I have a center bath, so it is pretty much of a gymnastic
event getting it hooked up at all, and since I can't see, I'm not
getting in on straight or tight. No matter how carefully and slowly I do
it, about 2/3rds of the time I get a nasty surprise when dumping the
black tank.

There is a gasket in the connection that is on the sewer hose. Make sure it
has not been lost somewhere. My has come out several times and I think I have
lost it several times. Good luck. Jauman2346

Where is the leak? I had a similar problem, and found that the material that
makes the seal in the connector was cracked and worn. Might need to replace
the connector, or find some sort of rubber gasket, like a very large hose
washer, to put in there.

What ever size building you build, it will be to small.
Open a window to allow air to circulate. This will help reduce mold.

Dave,
With the exception of the microwave, you may be able to run the TV, DVD
Player, Small Audio Amplifier, Notebook Computer, printer. from a small
400 watt unit. They are about $40.00 at WalMart. Buy one and try it.
The microwave will require a much bigger unit. It is huge. I use the
mod sine wave for my laptop and have no problems with it.
Good luck

in the 1500 watt range. I would prefer to not spend the extra money on a
pure sine wave inverter, but if it's likely that I will have "problems"
with a modified sine wave inverter, then I will invest in the former.
Any recommendations or suggestions?

the nasty suprise is not realy fun but think of the supprise I had when
working on the valve and dumped the whole black tank in my lap.I relay was not
socially acceptable for a while.Perhaps the answere to our black tanks would be to
hald it until we get home.

I agree with Bob, that it may be a worn seal on the connection.
But if you have a new Thetford dump valve and are using a Universal
straight or elbow hose connection, this may be the problem. The Universal
fittings work as far as fit but not real good at sealing, so they leak
exspecially when dumping the tank.
The solution, provided you have a Thetford dump vale and universal hose
connection is to get a Thetford hose connection. Works much better. No leak,
no mess.
As for making it easier to hook up the hose to dump valve. What I do, is
open the dump valve door a little and let it rest on my right arm as I look
thru to the hose connection so I can line it up and twist on. Or another trick
is to hook the door latch loosley so you can see thru the crack, works well
when your right arm is burned and you can't rest anything on it.

Subject: [VAL] Cargo Shifting: Wear-Ever 10 cup percolator

All,

Today I'm offering a Vintage Wear-Ever 10 cup percolator to anyone who
wants it to enhance their Airstream galley.

I bought it on eBay recently with the intention of using it in our
Caravel but have changed my mind and am now equipping the galley with
vintage Revere Ware, so out it goes.

I went out to the garage and spent a few minutes polishing it. The
result is a pretty darned nice looking mirror finish that could use a bit
more deep polishing to remove years of scratching. There isn't a dent on
the whole pot and lid and she will perk coffee just fine as the innards are
in there too.

If you're the first to respond to this email, want it for your own use
and not for resale and are willing to pay the postage to get it to you, it's
yours.

Good luck,

Glyn

All,
I know I've seen a web site that had a listing of the different airstream
models offered by year. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Can't
seem to find it.
Thanks

Subject: [VAL] Thanks ... and a heads up.

Folks,

First a quick note of thanks for all the on-list and off-list
replies I received about my question on building a work space
large enough for my father's Airstream. I haven't had a chance to
reply to everybody, but I will.

In Northwood New Hampshire I saw an Airstream for sale by the side
of the road. It's got its share of scratches, small dents, and
small holes on the body, etc. The interior looks mostly original
although things like the original wrap around curtains are gone.

Here are the specifics:

International
Ambassador
K133 FH
129D9J520

Dealer name plate:
Robert Crist and Co.
Chicago, Ill - Mesa, Ariz.

(603) 942-8832 (New Hampshire is Eastern Standard Time)

No price was posted, didn't talk to anybody when I looked
at it.
