Courtney,

What time of year are you talking about? If soon I'd stay along the
I-10 corridor. After March or April I'd opt for I-40. Then on your
wander back (if you are going back to NY) I'd go north to I-70 or even
I-94/90/80.

See how easy it is for me to spend your time and money? ;^)>

If you don't mind wandering a couple of hundred mile out of your way, we
do have courtesy parking here in northeast NM.

Ok, here is a question for you actual travellers. I have noticed in the
past that people, like Matt, offer courtesy parking. If people are up in
our neck of the woods (British Columbia, north of Kamloops) people are also
more than welcome to stay here.

But, what is the etiquette of courtesy parking? For instance, if we showed
up at your place Matt, what would you expect? (Actually, you might have
seen us in January, as we were planning a trip down to New Mexico. But,
after crunching numbers, we decided that we really couldn't afford it)

Sharon, in BC, where we think that we are going to haul the trailer over to
Vancouver Island (gulp) and spend some time there in January

My opinion on courtesy parking is this:

You allow members or people you know park somewhere, out of the way, on your
property for the night/day or whatever you work out. Work out? Yes, they'd
need to make contact rather than just show up -- a bit of notice is polite
and that "parking" you were hoping for might be already taken by someone
else so giving notice, asking permission beforehand is very important.

At the very least I would be expecting to be allowed to park off the street
with no utilities. At the very most full hookups would be fantastic! ;))
Anything in-between those two limits would be graciously accepted.

I would also think that a small "thank you!" gift would be nice to give the
host, but certainly not to be *expected* by the host because after all it
was offered to park there as a courtesy.

One thing I would never want anyone to think of me or my family personally
was that we took advantage of a host's generous offer. Courtesy is
something that is offered and that goes both ways for both the host and the
guest/s.

Courtesy parking allows members (list members and WBCCI, etc.) to meet
others who have like interests which can be a great experience for all. All
of us that both offer and take advantage of courtesy parking needs to go
that extra mile for all the hosts out there so that they never feel like
they are sorry they offered it in the first place. We would also be
expected to clean up after ourselves AND our pets. I couldn't think of
anything more rude than not cleaning up after yourselves and your pets.

How'd I do?

My sentiments, exactly.

We are planning on full hookups one day, but right now you're looking at
water and electric from the house. Of course in this neck of the woods
you could park IN the street and the two cars a day that pass by would
just go around. The street is 2 miles long and there are only 2 houses
on it. My neighbour is 295 and I'm 301. Still haven't figured out the
numbering scheme.

I plan to carry little "New Mexico" things to make it more personal. As
a host, though, a simple "Pleased to meet you!" will be enough.

That's really what it's all about, getting to meet as yet unmet friends.

That would get stale in a hurry.

I have now put a new photo album up on my site, and have asked those members
with photos currently up on the old album to move them over to the new one.
The new one is located at: http://www.tompatterson.com/gallery/albums.php and
there is now a link to this new location in the Airstream trailer section of
the website.

I will be eventually deleting the old album, which as of now, will no longer
accept additional photos. New photos will need to be uploaded to the new
site.

The problem with the old album was that it was cumbersome to use, and
decidedly user unfriendly. The new album is a lot easier to use. I invite
all member of the list to have a look, and to make use of the facility.
Currently, albums can be established and photos uploaded without approvals.
If misuse occurs, such as the appearance of unsuitable photos, I will change
the settings to require approval before uploading, but do hope to avoid the
need for this process.

Anyway, have a look. At this moment the only photos on the new site are those
that I uploaded myself, but that should change..

Jim,

Tom is right, clicking on the link will take you directly to the album every
time.

If you forget the link you can always get there by just going to the website
at http://www.tompatterson.com, which will take you to the website home
page. From there, click on "Trailers" on the main page, and then on
"Airstream Trailers" when the second page comes up. This brings up a third
page and if you click on the link which says: "Vintage Airstream Photo
Gallery (New)" at the bottom, it will take you to the album also.

A question has arisen as to how to login.

In order to login, you need to be registered. Once registered, you can login,
and create albums, and upload pictures.

Once you register, the program sends you an e-mail which contains a link.
When you click on that link, it brings you to a page where you will create
your password. At that point, you are able to login.

I just posted some pictures to Tom's newly revised site. It was quite easy
to do. Let's get some more of you to add photos.
