Your thought process is fine .

I installed the Winegard RM-DM55 which is a crank up TV and Satellite combo
dish with built in elevation sensor. Works great.

Check out the specs at http://www.winegard.com/mobile/pdf/2451070.pdf

This is a generic reply, too much trouble to cut and paste quotes ;>)

Vulkem can be kept in the freezer indefinitely...I guess. I cleaned out my
freezer the other day and found a 3 year old tube that after thawing was
still good. When I open a can or tube of anything I usually write the date
on it in marker, that way I can tell right away just how long it has been
around and if it is any good or not.

Don't need the dually truck to tow an AS with, in SOME cases it will add to
the stability but is not necessary.

Ace (Fogdall) is the place! I started buying parts from them a few years ago
and they have not let me down yet. If all else fails call your regular AS
dealer, the factory apparently still produces windows for the 69 and up
vintage units, I was able to get a replacement Vista View...but you will
probably end up replacing the entire assembly...

Subject: [VAL] 62 Tradewind toilet

Hi list,

I'm finishing out the plumbing in this little darling, now as for the way
this toilet is supposed to function. Right now, if I open the faucet next to the
toilet it fills the toilet completely up, is this normal or is there a
shutoff float of some sort that's not functioning (to go along with everything else
that wasn't functioning) properly or is it that everytime it's used you must
manually open and close the faucet? I don't want to try and fix something that
isn't broken. Please advise.

what do you mean by "faucet"? are you referring to a simple "water valve"
and not a "sink faucet" ? ? ?

if what you mean is that "when you turn the water valve (faucet in your
terms?) on the toilet fills with water - you have a STUCK water valve in the
toilet foot pedal linkage; these are usually a cartridge type thing, I
think. see what happens when you (water OFF here) depress the foot pedal,
watch what moves. Your problem is "at the end of" that pedal action which
is supposed to let the water 'in' to fill the bowl

does this help?

Subject: Re: [VAL] 62 Tradewind toilet

Hi Bebe,

I have a '62 Tradewind as well. If your toilet is like mine, the 'faucet' you
mention is probably the gate to the main supply to the valve which sits behind
the toilet seat.

Mine has a single step in front of the toilet and here's how it works when
it's working right:

Step on the step and press it all the way to the floor. The flap valve opens
and everything in the bowl drops right into the black tank, directly
underneath.

Release the step and the flap closes, sealing off the bowl from the black tank
and things too fierce to mention. When you release the step, the water valve
slowly closes (if everything is in order) and, as it does so, water is
introduced into the bowl, which acts as a secondary seal from the black pit.

On the valve assembly, you'll see a knurled screw . It will adjust how much
water fills the bowl after the flush cycle. I believe it's a tapered needle
valve, just like an idle mixture adjusting screw on a carburetor, and it
regulates air flow to a piston/cylinder, which mechanically opens and closes
the internal water valve. The faster the air escapes from the cylinder, the
less water is delivered.

Sounds to me like your water valve is either stuck, or there's a little rock
or something keeping it open.

Hope that helps,

Hi Gang!
I just bought a 1952 25' Cruiser. One of the reasons I bought it was that
it only
ways 2,500 lbs.. I couldn't believe it so I weighed it myself on a truck
scales.
Because of the sky rocketing gas prices, I would like to buy a comfortable
vehicle that gets really good gas milage. I'm open to a mid-size truck but I'd
really like a car wagon. The guy who sold it to me towed it with a 1985
Toyata 1 ton with a large 4 cyl and got 20 mpg towing. I'm keeping in mind that
Wally Byam designed Airstreams extremely light in the late forties and early
fifties to be towed by the family sedan and the average hp then was much lower
than now. Any ideas? What do you think of a rear wheel drive inline 6 cyl
180 hp Volvo 960 wagon. I notice it has a long wheelbase. I surly don't need
a 4 door Freightliner !
Thanks!

"Canine Park - I have been asked to let all canine owners know that
canine parking will be strictly enforced at the International Rally this
year. There will be a special canine section in both the 3 amp and 30
amp parking sections. The International Rally canine rules have been
relaxed during the past several years but this has not worked out well,
so we will return to the original rally rules as outlined in the
International Constitution and Bylaws blue Book, I am letting you know
this well in advance so you can make other arrangements for your canine
if you wish to park with friends. Another option is to invite your
friends to park with you in one of the canine parks."

Gee Hunter, did some of your neighbors last year not like your boys?

I wonder what they would do if several hundred of us pulled up and asked
for canine parking?

As for Wally's dog, why he parked on the gold row.

Not a chance......

I just think it's discrimination to park us away from everyone else. If
someone has a problem with dogs they should go park in an area for dog haters.

That said, some people have apparently ruined it for the rest of us by
allowing their dogs to bark or by not picking up after them....

Charlie,

You say they are going back to how it's always been done. What does that
mean?

Since they offered and lots of us paid for the 30-amp service does that also
mean we who own dogs will be with or without others who don't own dogs in
the 30-amp service area?

Will there be one 30-amp service area where dogs won't be allowed? Is that
how I'm supposed to read your post re:doing it like they've always done?

Do you know where I can see on the Internet or wherever else, the parking
diagram setup? I'd like to know what those letters (D, E) and number (1)
mean that WBCCI sent me. Can you help?

Thanks for your help as always, Charlie.

How far is "to make us park away from everyone else?"

Are the pet owners assigned to park specifically *away* from the vast
majority of our *fellow WBCCI members*?

What have they gone back to now? What "did not work" in the last rally or
two? How so and why do they say "it didn't work"?

Tom - so many questions, sorry but my dogs really want to know!

Vanessa,

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think your Volvo should be pulling more
than 3,000 pounds. Is that correct? And if so, isn't that the combined
total gross weight of vehicle and trailer?

I've got an old 1984 Volvo DL Wagon with the inline 6-cylinder VW truck
diesel engine which is not turbo-charged. In my owners manual it says not
to tow anything over 3,000 pounds. My Volvo wagon is a body on frame
constructed vehicle. I don't know if your Volvo is made that way or not.
My old wagon also has a solid rear axle but yours may have independent rear
suspension and be of the "uni-body" or "unit-body" construction meaning *no
frame* because the "uni-body" IS part of the "frame".

Can you tell us more about your Volvo?

Where'd you find such a gem? Do you have pictures to share?????

I have been towing my 69 18ft caravel with a toyota sienna. It has
a tow rating of 3500 lbs. Pulled it up to the highest point east of
the Mississippi. Granted it was not traveling at 65 mph at the top
but the speed limit was around 35 mph. It has a 6 cyl. with the tow
package. If I had a truck I would tow it with it but for now it does
just fine.

What is the tow rating on the Volvo? I once pulled a 18 ft livestock
trailer with a 1970 Volvo Wagon. Only had one horse in the trailer.

Whoa! I think you all are over reacting on the dog issue. You are not going
to be separated from the rest of the rally, simply parked together. You will
not lose your 30 amp service either so calm down. Your parking area will not
be inferior to anyone else. As far as history goes our Unit Scrapbook
indicates that members with dogs were parked together at least as early as
1963(the Bemidgi, Minnesota 6th International Rally). It was taken with
better humor back then. One article describes the canine parking area as
"Piddle Valley" and that it had the advantage of being "more centrally
located to the major rally events than any other trailer area." You all talk
about being "segregated" but if you belong to the VAC and want to park with
other VAC members then you would likewise be "segregated." There are reasons
to have designated canine parking and you all are aware of the reasons. We
have had Unit rallies and VAC rallies of significantly smaller dimensions
than the Int'l where children and elderly adults have been knocked down or
bitten by other member's dogs. This not to mention other inconsiderations.
So, stop being so defensive and reactionary. The point of it all isn't to
punish any of you, just help keep the peace among all of us.

You say we know the reasons. Well, I'm not personally aware of any of the
reasons to have a "canine park" - maybe others are but I'm not.

Please explain the reasons if you don't mind doing so for my benefit and the
benefit of others who like me may not know "why" there is a "canine park" as
in the days of old.

"Piddle Valley"? Cute .... Will there be "honey barrels" rather than
"honey wagons" for our canine friends? Will bags for pickup be provided or
.... ? So many questions but it's better to know before we head out that
way I think. Does anyone have a shovel concession yet? Maybe we should
have a "Rent-a-Shovel" enterprise started? :) And a Ditch Patrol?

What has happened in the last 2 Intl Rallies that caused the "canine park"
to resurface? Why was there a change in fact, two years ago when the
"canine park" was *not enforced*?

What is meant by "strict enforcement"? I think I saw that on Charlie B's
post, didn't I?

Are our canines only going to be welcome in their "own neighborhood"? I'm
not being defensive but please understand that there may be others like me
who will ask "why" after not having these segregated areas the last two
years if you will.

Thanks.
