Wow, now you give me pause to think. Having recently rolled my vintage
tow vehicle I was looking at newer ones for the anti-lock brakes (with
which I'm pretty sure I would not have skidded into the ditch).

With the information about weakness in these new trucks maybe I will
see about fixing the old one. Hmmm......maybe if I used axles and the
brake controller from a new truck I could retrofit anti-locks, I want a
4x4 anyway :-)

John, So tragic ! I was nearly in tears. I don't know why
damage to a lovely relic like that truck does that,
theoretically I suppose I should feel badly about the pig...
I hope you can summon up the energy to fix it, especailly
after all the work you did bringing its guts up to standard.
I love my great big noisy truck, but I wish I had the
mecanic skills to have a vintage puller.

Glyn,

The change was made on the 1969 model year. Rounded corners from
square corners. Not sure how far you can go up in model years. My
quess would be late 70's early 80's when the next model/body change
happened.

John,

Sorry to hear about your panel truck. You are very fortunate to not been hurt
bad. My experience with anti-locks is not good. Two bad experiences that
almost caused loss of control due solely to the anti-locks and both on Ford
trucks, both company supplied vehicles. On those vehicles if you panicked
and tromped on the brakes hard the front wheels would start to alternately
hop off the pavement, very disturbing. On the other hand I believe you can
learn how to properly brake a vehicle without resorting to anti-lock or
pumping the brakes. My personal daily driver for over 24 years was a '55'
first series Chevy, and I recommend going to the trouble of redoing your
panel truck yet again. Nothing else in front of the AS will look as
good. :-)

    Paul,

thanks, that gives me hope that I can find the proper bracket assembly
on models later than mine. I'll see what I can find out.

Anyone with '70 on up models have this same curbside to streetside fan
bracket with switch included?

    Thanks to all.......again,

    Glyn

We have a 70 and I took out the old fans years ago and replaced with
the FanTastic fan.
As I remember the bracket and fan was nothing special. Just make a tin
or strap iron bracket and attach a cheep 12 VDC automotive type fan.
The type used to keep truck windows fog free.
Don't make it into something it never was. It was just a simple fan.

    Dean,

Thank you for the suggestion but I'd like to install the original
bracket if I can find one for the sake of authenticity.

You wouldn't happen to have one of those brackets still kicking around
would you?

    Thanks,

A simple test of heat treat on 2024 aluminum. Try to make a sharp bend
with a pair of pliers or a vice. 2024-0 may bend. Any of those heat
treated and aged will break in the bend. Aged 2024-0 may break just from
age.

I have positive hooked to positive and negative to negative, which
retains the 12V supply, but at twice the capacity. Yes, this is a

stuck ! No one around here has any idea what to sell me & I can't really tell
them ! The clips on the present curtains are not original & I really would
like them to be as close as possible.
