Jim,

Let me personally say a big Thank You! to you for your service to our
country. I salute you and all Veterans who've fought and died for the
freedoms we enjoy today. I'd be honored to park with you any time or any
place under the shadows of our sacred flags. The MIA-POW flags should be
proudly displayed without exception and they should be openly welcomed as a
salute to those Veterans who did not come home and are still out there ...
somewhere ... waiting to be reunited with their loved ones and their country
men and women.

Maybe sometime I'll get to sit and talk with you so that I can learn from
you about our country's past history and sacrifices made by our service men
and women. I'd really enjoy that.

"Correct angle" between the poles? You've got to be kidding! You are,
aren't you?

I think I'll come up with a flag pole like I've seen at lighthouses which
the Coast Guard also uses -- you know the type with the American flag at the
top above the ' t ' and then from the bottom of the cross of the ' t '
intersection I can have 2 cables on the starboard and port side of the
flagpole. To these other cables I'll attach what I feel in the mood for at
the time -- if it gets rough and rowdy I'll hoist up a Hurricane Warning
flag in all it's red and black glory. On the other side maybe I'll hoist up
a pirate flag! Or, maybe my State flag, etc. Then again, maybe a Jimmy
Buffet parrot flag might be called for if it's close to any water. ;))

The "flap" over the flags back then must have been the very reason POW-MIA
flags were put up after the attendees were "reminded about the by-laws
rules."

Proud to say that I'd also have been *encouraged* to show my MIA-POW flag if
I'd had one. And I would have certainly stood my ground if anyone had told
me I couldn't fly the MIA-POW flag as others would have attested to when
they heard the ongoing argument several rows over. ;)

Yahoo! OK Forrest, when they come for me with the handcuffs,
you're getting my one phone call. Thanks for REALLY reading
the by laws.

Can anyone find the place in the by laws where it covers the
actual angle of the flag pole ?

    Jo Ann,

Sorry, I forgot to say that there is no price listed, just the phone
number. I think I'll swing by there this morning after breakfast and when
the sun's up to look a bit more closely at her. Maybe I'll bring the digital
camera along and snap off a handful of images too for those who might want
to see them back channel. Those of you interested, let me know.

This camera is new to me so I'll have to call Olympus first to find out
how in the heck to change the settings so I can take images that are less
than the 1MB each it's taking now! Try sending an email of attached images
that size to a friend and you'll see how unpopular you make yourself in a
hurry! ; - ) the manual talks about the different sizes you can set it to
take, it just doesn't tell how to change them, Grrrrr!

If it isn't obvious by now, I'll say it here. I have no economic
interest in this Bambi, I'm just trying to pass the word on to the folks
that might be the most interested. I don't know the seller and haven't even
met or talked to him/her.

    Later,

    Glyn

Daisy,

The only thing I can find on the angle of multiple flag poles is a roughly
drawn diagram in the Blue Book appendix showing that the flag pole holder
should be welded so that there is a 20 degree separation between poles. But
it is simply a recommendation, not a requirement. Some of our members use a
completely different design from the one in the Blue Book.

Hi Glyn,
Here's an easy way to resize your large pics into small ones for email. If
you are using windows XP, right click on the pic to be resized and pick
'resize pictures' from the menu. Then pick the fist selection from the next
menu. It should be '640 X 280'. Click 'OK' and a copy the pic will be
resized and saved as a 'small' pic with the same name in the same folder.

Bob,

Nice try, but I believe that Glyn is a Mac guy. Although Mac should
have something similar since they have so much in their operating
system. Perhaps one of the Mac people on the list could give Glyn a tip.

No, I was not kidding. Max Carmichael, the Int Pres who pointed out the
rule basically dismissed it as well, but it still is in the Blue Book and
the busy body types always look for rules to use as a hammer (ie the MIA/POW
flag issue for instance).

Just so that everyone can read for themselves, here is the applicable
section for the Blue Book By-Laws, Section POLICY: Flags and Pennants
starting on page 54 issued 7/5/04. (I have the complete Blue Book in soft
form if anyone is interested is getting it just email me directly). As you
will see subsection h: For the display of flags on a recreational vehicle,
see Appendix #12. (1/17/97), sends you to Appendix 12.

6.	Flag Protocol
	a.	National flags may be displayed outdoors from sunrise to
sunset on buildings, on recreational vehicles and on stationary flagpoles.
(1/17/97)

	b.	National flags may be displayed outdoors at night provided
such flags are illuminated by lighting directed at the flags. (1/17/97)

	c.	National flags should not be displayed outdoors in inclement
weather. (1/17/97)

	d.	When two or more national flags are to be flown or displayed
together, such flags should be of approximately the same dimensions and
flown or displayed at the same height on separate staffs. (1/17/97)

	e.	When in another country, the national flag of your country
should not be the only national flag you fly or display. When you do not
have the national flag of the country you are visiting, do not fly or
display the national flag of your country. In the latter circumstances, you
may fly or display the flag of your state or province and your flag of
office, if any, or an International Board of Trustees approved Unit or
Intra-Club flag. (1/17/97)

	f.	The position of honor for a national flag of a country is
governed by the country's order of flag protocol when visiting such country.
(1/17/97)
When in the United States of America and the only national
flag to be flown or displayed is the flag of said country, the positi of
honor is the center staff and said staff is higher than the other staffs
which may be flying or displaying state and Officer flags. (see Appendix
#12) However, when one or more national flags of other countries are to be
flown or displayed with the national flag of the United States, the position
of honor for the latter national flag is on the left as viewed by persons
facing the flags. When one or more national flags are to be flown or
displayed with the national flag of the United States, all such flags shuld
be of approximately the same size and each on a separate staff and all flown
or displayed at the same height. (see Appendix #12)

When in Canada and only two flags are to be flown or
displayed, e.g. the national flag of Canada and the national flag of another
country, or a provincial flag or a flag of office, the position of honor of
the national flag of Canada is on the left as viewed by persons facing the
flags. (see Appendix #12) When three flags are to be flown or displayed
the position of honor for the national flag of Canada is the center staff
and when more than three flags are to be flown or displayed the position of
honor for the national flag of Canada is the left staff. When two or more
flags are to be flown or displayed each flag is to be on a separate staff
and all flown or displayed at the same height. (see Appendix #12)
(1/17/97)

	g.	At all National, Special Event, Region and State Rallies and
at other events or functions of the International Club being attended by an
International Officer or by a Member of a Unit from another country, the
national flags of the United States of America, Canada and Mexico shall be
honored equally during opening and closing ceremonies and while on display
during the Rally, the event or function. It should be noted that an elected
International Officer is a representative of the Members and the Units in
the countries of the United States of America, Canada and Mexico and
therefore the national flags of said countries should be honored equally at
a Rally, event or function. The United States of America's Pledge of
Allegiance may be omitted at all WBCCI rallies, events and functions held
outside the United States. (1/17/03)

	h.	For the display of flags on a recreational vehicle, see
Appendix #12. (1/17/97)

	i.	For the display of flags in an auditorium, a hall, a
classroom or a church, see Appendix #12. (1/17/97)

I am unable to post the drawing as that would require HTML, but a drawing
for a three flag holder is presented with dimensions along with drawings and
protocol for flag presentation depending on single, triple arched, triple
straight (ie equal height) or 5 arched pole configurations. As it is
referenced from the By-Laws Policy section on Flags and Pennants and the
words suggestion, recommendation or guideline are not included, the drawing
has to taken as the approved and sanctioned way. Also, the rest of the Flag
Protocol section in Appendix 12 is actually internationally agreed protocol
that is NOT open to interpretation (ie position, height, etc). It is
interesting that Appendix 12, while showing a 5 flag holder makes NO attempt
to define its dimensions. So the real issue is whether the By-Laws Policy
sections are to be interpreted as By-Laws or guidelines.

I TOTALLY agree with Forrest on using good judgement and following the
overriding WBCCI constitution purpose statement, but unfortunately the
By-Laws in the Blue Book are more often used to intimidate and threaten and
confuse and as Hunter pointed out, it is the attitude and way they are used
that turns so many of us away from the WBCCI.

    Bob,

That's what the Olympus web site told me to do too, but I guess I should
have said that I have an iMac.

Actually I wanted to reduce the size of the file (resolution) as I took
the photo. I played around with the camera earlier this morning and voila,
I reduced it to 97K per image. I did a test shot and downloaded it to my
iMac. It all worked just fine and the image was just great in quality for
my purposes.

All's well now and as a matter of fact, I just came back from taking 22
images of the Bambi for anyone who wants to see them.

    Thanks,

    Glyn

Greetings,
Photo's are simple with Apple, Using OS X. I am using 10.3.7 myself.
To start with connect your Camera to your computer with the USB cable,
turn on your camera.
IPhoto program should start. The Import Photo screen should come up
then click on Import.
After you get your photos into IPhoto move to the Organize screen and
highlight the photo you want to send.
Next, move down to the EMail button across the lower part of the IPhoto
screen and click on that button.
The "Mail Photo" window will pop up and you can choose the best size
for your message.
Click on the "Compose" button and your Mail program will pop up so you
can address your letter and add a message if you want.
Hit Send and sit back... As they say " It's in the Mail"

Jim
I agree with you 100%. As a USAF retiree and Gulf War vet I feel that the
MIA-POW flag should be allowed. To me it is a more meaningful flag than the
WBC.
I am not an expert on flag display's, nor do I claim to be. Trying to figure
out the proper placement of multiple flags is sometimes confusing, in which
case I usually have to refer back to my military PFE guide which shows/tells
proper placement and position when multiple flags are displayed.
One thing that amazes me though is how some organizations set there own
standards with no real understanding of the flag/flags and their importance or
meaning. The Boy Scouts of America is one organization that teaches our young
boys to love/honor/respect our flag, but yet on the uniform they wear the flag
backwards. When my son joined this year and got his uniform with the the U.S.
flag on the right sleeve with the Union to the rear I removed it and put
another in it's place with the Union forward. When asked by another parent,
why his was different I told him that the flag was backwards and I fixed it.
He then told me that his uniform must match the others and that's the way it's
supposed to be. I then told him the correct way to display the flag and if
it's to be worn on a uniform by my son it will be right or not at all.
Afterward I wrote a few letters to the BSA.

Sorry if I seem to have gotten off track, but you go JIM. Display the MIA-POW
flag with pride

Greetings Brian!

The following information was quoted from the VAC website regarding owners'
and service manuals for our Vintage coaches:

<<Manuals

Q: I need an owners and service manual for my Airstream. Where can I get
one?
A: The first owners manuals were published in 1964. Prior to that, the owner
received a brown envelope containing parts lists and other helpful
information on the accessories in his trailer. The VAC has started making
these available in the Members Archive section. A service manual with
instructions for performing service operations did not exist until 1972.
You can get photocopies of owners manual (1964+) and service manuals
(1972-1986) from:

Helen Davis Secretarial Services
PO Box 484 Sidney, OH 45365
(937)492-8885

Prices are about $33 and $70 respectively. After 1986 the Owners Manuals
included available service information.>>

This is not appropriate for the A/S list but since listers use digital
photos a lot here goes:
I have used many programs both free and paid for to do pics and have not
been very satisfied with most of them. Recently Google bought a company
making a great photo organizer and manipulator called Picasa. It use to be
a pay to use program but Google has decided to give it away. If you go to
google.com and click on 'more' you will see the Picasa download near the
bottom. Hope you like it as much as I do. You will be amazed, especially
with the feature called 'timeline'.....truly amazing.

Brian,

If you are talking about a Suburban furnace, they have one motor. It serves
as the blower and fresh air intake from the outside.

I don't know what you could be hearing that's squealing if the furnace motor
is not running. That is a strange one. The motors are known to get a
little out of whack after 30 years ;-)

You do have to remove the entire furnace guts to get access to the motor
itself. To do that you have to remove the vent cover on the outside, then
remove the two screws behind it that hold the intake and exhaust pipes to
the wall. Then go back in the trailer, and remove the gas line (after
shutting off the tanks and the valve). Remove the front cover via the two
snapping clamps, and then remove the bolt/screw near the bottom holding the
guts in place. Disconnect the wiring and slide it out of the shell.

You will probably want to clean it all out anyway so now is a good time to
go over the whole thing.

Brian,

Was the furnance even on? On the furnace, you should have one motor.
The only time this motor will run is during the operation of the furnace.
Even as the furnace cycles on and of to keep the trailer at the temp. set.
When it reaches that temp, the furnace will shutoff leaving only the pilot
light on. When the temp falls below the set temp, the motor will turn on
clearing the chambers of any gases, pilot lights the burner, heat is blown
out ducts until temp is reached, it shuts-off again and so on. So if you
hear
a noise and the thing is off, you have something else squeeling. Was the
water
pump running at the time? I sometimes have a screw that hold the waterpump
in place come loose and the turning of the pump will rub up against
something
and make a squeeling noise.

Tim,

It is a Suburban furnace. The motor is on the outside of the heater box,
with a fan belt going to a pulley. Squirl cage fan is inside the heater
housing.

When I turn on the therostat located over the twin bed, the noise begins,
the motor with the fan belt is not energizing and is not turning. It does
turn freely by hand so it's not locked up or binding. The noise is in that
area and fairly loud at first.. then peters off. I didn't leave it on long.

I figured the furnace set up is typical.... ie gas burner, heat exchanger,
temp sensor that switches on the fan blower on when heat exhanger reaches
operating temp... That's about it..

anyway.. I will check it out more. I just to know if there was an
additional fan I should be looking for.

(the water pump wouldn't come on for any reason when the thermostat is on
does it?? ) Is there a switch somewhere for the water pump?

Thanks to both of you for your replys and trying to help.

Brain, that is certainly a different animal than I am used to.

I'm sure someone hear will chime in if we keep talking about it!

I'd check your voltage then at the furnace, maybe a relay is trying to
engage without enough power or ground and is chattering. Much like I am now
since I don't have the answer!

Good luck!

I found one report that said a spyware check detected no spyware.

However the HELLO function makes blogger posts virtually instantly. And
there's comments about reports of activity.

It seems I read somewhere about odd sounds coming from furnaces which needed
to have their air shutters on the main burner (probably right next to the
sparker) adjusted. It would be an easy fix, if so.

Close it down for richer, open it up for leaner. A nice, blue flame is the
desired end result. Might be worth a try...you could always put it right back
where it was if it didn't help, and it's a lot easier than tearing stuff
apart!

Mark,

I think you're right on, it's the gas. That would explain the noise even
when the motor isn't running. If it isn't precisely there, then it might be
in the regulator?

Forrest,

I suppose it could be the regulator, but I'd rather believe it could be a
spiderweb, or bug something-or-other in a critical place.
Mud daubers have a penchant for propane, maybe others do too.

I'll be curious to know what the solution to the problem actually turns out to
be.

That approach hardly accomplishes the overall club goals as Forrest
pointed out so well, while making my job of growing the membership that
much harder.
