When I got my Globetrotter it cried out for flamingoes to put in front of it when
I parked. Over the years, the parts of the flamingoes that hold the legs have
broken, so I have a collection of amputees which perch in an evergreen when not in
use elsewhere. I am trying to figure out how to make a light out of these guys. I
cut a hole in the bottom of one and put it over an old lamp base but it isn't secured
well so that the hot light bulb can contact the plastic. My DD gave me a string of
little flamingo lights to hang on the front of the trailer, but I wanted one or two
of the big ones for yard lights.

Use modern compact fluorsecents to cut way back on the heat from the lamp. Then
positioning won't be such a problem. I like the versions with the spiralled tube for
best distribution of light.

Try a string of Christmas lights. They will light the plastic from the inside and
the tiny ones don't get hot enough to be a
problem. Multi colrs and blinking ones can also make for some interesting patterns.

DUH! I just thought to look for the VAC site. Somehow I had it in my
mind that because the list migrated to Tom Patterson's server that the
site had gone away too.
All the information I need is there!
Oh well, back to sleep now...

the rented car and if anything should happen along the way ...we don't need
to deal with break down .. we have found this to be a good way for short road

questions come up .....Like where would you keep a permanent address? how does one
make such a choice? Would buying a used Airstream and having it totally
restored rather than hunting down a deal on New Airstream ....They say winter is
a very slow time for dealers and one could maybe make a good purchase
...there is just a couple of the many questions that have been talking about between

I actually saw lighted flamingos at k-mart this week! They used two (D)
cell batteries and had a sensor that turned them on automaticly at dusk. We
were going to buy a pair of them but at $20 each I thought they were a bit
high. It was strange because they were in the middle of the store, with
totally unrelated merchandise. If you can not find them at your local
k-mart, or you do not have k-mart stores in you area, contact me off list
and I can pick them up for you and ship them to you.
Unrelated question; are any listees planing to go to the Mardi Gras
rally Feb. 1-8, 2005?

Well, I guess so, anything is possible after all.
But why ? when there are so many nifty ones out there for
cheeeep.
I do have a vague plan to make a silver flamingo out of pie
plates some day...and that might need pink twinkle lights on it.
One never knows, do one.
