    All,

Well, the Airstream-themed luncheon photos are finally back form the
drug store and ready to be sent to anyone wanting a good laugh.

You'll remember that a few weeks ago we invited neighbors to our place
for a meal made exclusively on/in the cooking facilities offered in our 1969
Caravel. In addition I bought a 1969 Coleman camp stove for making the
coffee on the BBQ table.

The appetizers were fried pieces of Spam with pineapple chunks stuck to
them with toothpicks. The main course was Chinese Chicken Salad and a fruit
bowl with handle carved from a watermelon. Oh, don't forget the celery with
peanut butter spread in the center.

The food was served on purple/pink Texas Ware, Mel Mac type trays and
the coffee served in deep purple Texas Ware cups.

My contribution was the sugar and fat-free Jell-O pudding. You add
milk, stir, pour into dishes and get into the 'fridge before it clots.

As an example of my culinary talents, I once tried to make a surprise
pot roast for Marilyn. We ended up having roast pot, so the pudding was at
the outer limits of my ability.

Even the pink flamingos in the yard had a good time watching the whole
thing.

So, if you want to see any of this madness, let me know and I'll send
images to you back channel.

    Glyn

I'm sure notrogen expands with temperature, but . . . racers use nitrogen
in tires because it doesn't contain water vapor like regular air. Without
the water vapor expanding the change in tire pressure due to heating of the
tire is much less. When the tire pressures don't change with temperature,
the handling characteristics of the tires are more predictable, which is
important when you are driving at the limit of adhesion.

I doubt any of this matters on a trailer unless you are racing with your
trailer hitched to the car. And as a side note, I think it was on a program
called Motorsport Mondial on Speed Channel a couple of years ago that I saw
a racing event with cars pulling trailers (actually it was somewhat a cross
of a race and a demolishion derby).

I beg to differ. Nitrogen is a gas just like air (and makes up a significant
fraction of the earth's air) and expands and contracts as temperatures
change or changes pressure when the container restricts its expansion
and contraction just like air.

I can see egg in beer, thicker gold plate, larger diamonds, more flavor
in food (all things that cost extra), but I can't see any benefit from
nitrogen in a tire except to the seller of the nitrogen.
