JoAnne,

See the book "Capetown to Cairo" by Lillie B. Douglas, it is a wonderful
read.

I can't speak to towing an Airstream with the QuadraTrack system, but I can speak about the reliability.

One of my co-workers has a truck with the QuadraTrack steering system on it. She comments that
it "drives a bit strangely at slow speeds", but was able to get used to it. It's in the shop
with steering troubles at least a couple times a month. I don't know if this is an overall
problem or just this one vehicle. I do know that this particular truck is maintained well
and driven sensibly.

I'd been looking at linoluem, but holding off because of the high ($5+/sqft)
cost. Yesterday I found (and bought) it on sale online:
_http://www.ifloor.com/group_10393/Linoleum/Forbo-Flooring/Marmoleum-2mm-Contr
actor-Plus-13-x-13-Tile.html_
(http://www.ifloor.com/group_10393/Linoleum/Forbo-Flooring/Marmoleum-2mm-Contractor-Plus-13-x-13-Tile.html)
Shipping was high for me, since I'm in VA and the stuff ships from
OR--however, I got them to lower this by negotiating on the phone. The cost boiled
down to @ $2.46/sqft (shipping also covered a gallon of adhesive). I also
posted the info to airstream forums, where someone mentioned that the contractor
cost typically is $3/sqft--so, thought I'd mention it here as well.

Tha VAC has a DVD available that includes the 1959-1960 African
caravan(Capetown to Cairo). It is an amazing film about Airstreams.
The trip seems to have been "off-road" for much of the way.

Hi Jo Ann:

I don't think there was a National Geographic on this one, just the Europe
trip. But if you can find a copy of "Capetown to Cairo" by Lillie B.
Douglass it's a fascinating read. You see them every now and then on Ebay,
I found mine at abe: www.abebooks.com.
