Hello All

Just a quick plug for this year's Region 7 VAC Rally. We will be holding
the Vintage Buddy Rally (we are calling this rally the Tow In) on July
29 - August 1, 2004 in Appleton (Greenville), WI. We have secured a
great site at the Greenville Grange, lots of grassy parking, great
building to hold events, an open house, some water and electric. ( we
should be able to get you all water). Appleton is 19 miles from Oshkosh,
WI, and why do I bring this up? This is the same weekend as the EAA Fly
In! If you have always wanted to see this air show but could not find a
spot to park for the weekend now is your chance to meet up with some
Vintage Airstreamers and go to the greatest air show in the country all
in the same weekend. Parking will start on Thursday at noon and our
departure day will be Sunday. I will have more information as we develop
the activities for the weekend, drop me a line if you are interested in
attending this one of a kind Vintage Rally.

Hi Tom:

No, it isn't a vent - the hole is only through the inner skin. Nearby is
the vent for the Panel Ray heater, which does go through both layers. And
the 14" square vent is right next to it. The metal dome over the hole looks
like a light fixture to me, and I've read that 50's trailers often had a 12
volt dome light.

Anybody else know what this is?

Thanks,
Deborah

Hi guys, visiting with a buddy in Iowa who just purchased a '67 Tradewind in
nearly stock condition. I am helping him go over all systems so we can go
camping in the next day or two. One problem that perhaps one of you mid to late
60's owners can help me with. The tongue jack is electric and went out on us.
Cranked it up too far and must of burned out a fuse. The wire to the jack goes
thru an in-line fuse then is connected to a hefty orange wire which disappears
into the frame. There is no power to this wire! Where might this wire surface
again? Or where might another fuse be located? The battery box is on the
roadside beneath the mid-double bed. There are some electrical connections and what
appear to be automatic resetting "fuses". None of these wires are orange, but
there is power to and from all three of these. Any ideas?

Look under the trailer just forward of the steps. There is usually an
access panel to the junction of the wires going from the hitch to the rest
of the trailer.

Hi Scott and Rick:

According to my manual there is another auto-resetting 25A circuit breaker
"front road side in chassis" in "the charging line from car". The others
are all aft either in the low voltage panel (under the bed) or back at the
120V panel. Frankly, I've never laid eyes on this breaker but that's how
it's described. In any case, it should reset after the load from the jack
is removed and show voltage again. Battery is dead? Plug into the truck
FTHOI and see if you get juice that way

Good luck guys,

John, this may not work for you but I have been plagued with a leaking
blackwater valve for some time. Someone else posted this fix on the list, but
I just recently took the corrective action. The fix I used was simple, I cut
the ring (thetford) off the sewer outlet and with a fernco (rubber connector
with clamps), I connected a Valtera blade valve. Total cost: about 24 bucks
and took perhaps 30 minutes to do. The sewer outler tends to flex when
cutting off the ring so I found it helpful to stabilize iti by inserting a 2"
X 2" and bracing it while using the sawall. Secondly, I made some simple
strap braces to hold the Valtera valve more sturdy when I pull the dump valve.
This required replacing the bolts in the Valtera with longer 1/4" bolts.
Please don't anyone send me a message about Thetford vs. Valtera, I am pleased
with the conversion and it works. Ned Digh
