Subject: [VAL] Beverly Beach Camptown RV Park

     Hello
Just returned from our July 4th trip. We stayed at Beverly Beach which is
just North of Flagler Beach on A1A. We were lucky to find a place in such
short notice. I procrastinated in making reservations because I wasn't sure if
we were able to go anywhere, at least to the beach. We made reservation the
weekend before we left, and was able to get 2 sites. Wow, what luck. July 4th,
Pepsi 400, on the beach.
The campground is right on the beach, and for those who like being right
on the water this is real nice. The only thing separating your campsite from
the ocean is the sand and a concrete retaining wall. The sites are not shaded,
so an awning is a necessity, having a small fan to plug in outside is nice
too.
The sites are not paved, but are pretty level, though there are a few on
the beachfront row that will require a leveling block. Also the sites are set
up so that you can pull in (Motorhomes) or back in, which makes it real nice
if you go with someone else and want to park so that you face each other. If
you have a shorter trailer and you don't plan on going anywhere then you could
put two trailers facing each other, on the beach view row this would be pretty
easy. If I had wanted to I could have pulled my 29 footer in with the Suburban
and just unhitched and left it there. But then we would have to have taken the
brother-in-laws motorhome to go somewhere. Also I would need close to a 20
foot sewer hose.
The beach is nice, not crowded at all even on a holiday weekend. There
were a lot of race fans camped there too since it's only 20 miles to Daytona
Beach. Was able to walk down to the beach and watch firework display that was
put on at the Flagler pier. The park was pretty quite too, no late night
revelers, most people that had fireworks of their own was finished by
9:30-10:00.
The negatives were: low water pressure, and sulfur water, of which neither
was a big deal. I had cold beer, sodas for the kids and fresh bottled water
for coffee.
So if anyone is looking for a beach trip this place would be a good one to
file away for future references. We will definitely go back, even though we
like the gulf beaches.
We will be going to Topsail Hill July 24-27.
    Take care

Subject: [VAL] Looking out for window trim

Folks:

We need an interior window trim piece for our '73, 23' Safari. The
subject window is the small oblong one just fwd of the door and
immediately BELOW the "main" operable one. The overall dimensions of
the piece, as measured from the inside and across the glass surface
(i.e. excluding the return that overlaps the interior wall surface) are
8-5/16" high by 18-3/4" wide. If anyone has such for sale we'd
appreciate hearing from you off-list--photos and more detailed
dimensions available there as well.

Thanks,

Rob

Subject: Re: [VAL] Looking out for door handle plate

I saw a thread on airstreamsforum regarding replacements for door
handles, locks, and plates for I think, 1960 Safari. There seemed to be
a couple of good leads for finding or getting parts built.
I have a similar problem with my 1956 Bubble. The handle itself is ok,
the lock won't lock but it will latch so that's good enough since I
have a good deadbolt installed. But the thing I really need is the
little circular (more or less) plate directly behind the handle itself.
The part seems to be made of really crummy pot metal with a chrome type
covering coat that seems to be holding the plate together. There are
some chunks broken off the plate and it really looks sad. Thanks for
any leads.
