Jo Ann,

I prefer to keep the walls neutral (my FC has original Zolatone, light
tan specks) and change the curtains, pillows, bedding with the seasons
or at will. I'm a Target devotee which makes changing colors whenever
I'm bored, cheap! I currently have my "summer" look in the trailer
which is lighter weight stuff. My winter look is darker, heavier
fabrics for warmth. Redecorating 21 ft. of space is fun!

I made the big move from NY state to CO in 1989 and have not looked back -
Colorado has a lot to offer. I chose the western slope near excellent
cross country skiing (I can ski at least 6 months of the year and only have
to drive 25 minutes from my house and the yearly membership for this skiing
on miles of groomed trails is $25 - this year I skied over 60 times!)

Thanks for all the suggestions. The Airstream dreams model looks great, but
appears to be opaque. I want a translucent model. I think I'll try splicing
two 14 x 14 covers together for now until a translucent (lexan preferred)
model is built.

I didn't remember I needed one for my 64 Tradewind. Patti, do you still have any? Are
they cast aluminum and shaped like a T with a press pin to hold them on? Would it be
possible for me to get one? You could respond off line if you wish, I had looked for
your e-mail address but couldn't find it on the archives threat.

Well, we took the tin house out on it's maiden voyage with us, and it was
lovely. The house is very light, compared to my three horse steel stock
trailer. Didn't even feel it. The 12 volt has a small problem in the
connection, you have to wiggle it just so. Not that we used it for much.
The toilet works great with a pressurized squirt bottle and/or bucket, so I
think that we will keep to the waterless toilet system.

It will be nice to have water laid on. Anybody know what to use to patch
polyethylene tanks? Ours has a hole in it, which we discovered prior to
leaving. Going to get the furnace up and running as well, as my SO was
cold. He is sensitive to cold, I think from having to work in it for so
long. I was fine! The one bunk did pull out to make a double, instead of a
twin. I don't know if someone modified that along the way or not. The
fridge gave us a bit of grief with the propane. Worked great at home, but
needed some adjustment when we parked. We ran the fridge off of the truck
when we drove, so that kept everything nice and cold. We are going to hard
wire that in in our next truck, which I better have by Thursday! I am going
to a competitive trail ride on Friday, and would rather drive the diesel,
than our big old ford with the 460 in it. The Rocket has been a great
truck, but we don't call it the Rocket for nothing!

We went to Pritchard, which is east of Kamloops for the first night. We
were volunteering at a Combined Drive event (where people drive horse(s)
and cart/carriages really fast through obstacles, amongst other things).
The next day we headed to a campsite called Monck on Nicola Lake near
Merrrit. Lovely campsite, with a great beach, and hardly anyone there.
Different story in July and August, we are told. We are going to go back,
but maybe not until after the crowds disappear! While we were there, we
were invited to join the BC group of the WBCCI.

Came home the scenic route, up through Lac la Jeune, and checked out that
campsite, as well. The hubby really enjoyed himself, so hopefully we
actually will go out again.

Randy, The Airstream Dreams vent cover is made of fiberglass. It should last
decades. Inland RV has both white and smoked plastic available to let in
lots of light. However they only last 4 or 5 years in my experience.

Subject: [VAL] black tank rebuild

I STILL haven't replaced my black tank (we use a
porta-potti). But, if I ever get around to it, I
think I will replace the whole assembly with a SS
tank. Here's my logic:

I had already left drawings with my fab shop for the
metal box that holds the plastic tank. The old one
was rusted out, so I planned to use SS. I called the
guy and asked how much more it would cost to put a lid
and a few baffles on that same design. It would add
another $100, but it would solve a lot of other
problems (cracked tank, questionable mounts for
fittings, etc.). This seemed like a deal in the long
run. So, that's what I think I'll do.

There are a lot of details to sort out (bottom slope,
insulation, etc.). So, maybe it's not for everybody.
But, it's something to think about.

I am looking into solar panels for my 69 caravel. Do to the lack of space
on the roof, I am investigating the use of flexible panels. The flexible
panels would be in addition to the panels mounted on the roof. Maybe place
the flex on the awing. Any suggestions? Also thinking about extending the
hitch by 18 inches and the rear likewise by 18 inches. This would give
storage for batteries and supplies. I understand that the frame will need
to be reinforced. Anyone done this?

I bought some collapsible flag poles with the intent of mounting them on the

My question is what size flags to buy. 16" x 24" almost look too small, and
2' by 3' look almost too big.

What size are others using?

Greetings Tom!

Two of my three flags are the 2' x 3' size, and other than the need to
shorten the springs provided with the Pole-Ease flag poles, there have
been few problems. Depending upon the orientation of the antenna and
the direction of the wind, it is possible that the larger flags can
interfere with the bat-wing TV antennas that I have on both coaches.

Hi Dan ,
On my latest project , I used flexable panels made by unisolar which are
made for putting on standing seam metal roofs . They come in 15inch x 10 ft
lengths in my case , They can be had up to 18 ft long or shorter than 10 ft
too. They are on bituthane backing which sticks semi - permenantly to the roof
of the a/s , and fit to the curve . The top of my trailer is covered with them
. Less watts per sq.ft but you can put more sq.ft up there , no leaky
attachements , no putting something flat on a curved surface , no wind
resistance . I`d use them again on another without hesitation .

I have 3x5 flags, with the exception of the VAC flag which is 2x3. Most
WBCCI members use the 3x5 since all the club flags are that size, the VAC
flag being the exception.

Greetings Bert!

I don't know whether your '57 "porch" light is like the one that I have
with my '64 Overlander, but if it is, I found a replacement bulb through
Ace Fogdall RV in Cedar Falls, IA. Since the trailer is already at my
new home 400 miles from here I can't check the trailer but will be at
Ace Fogdall on Monday to have some repairs made on my Minuet and could
check to see if they still carry that bulb and relay information about
manufacturer/bulb number. You can see a photo of my fixture at the link

I was not happy with the styles available when it came time to do mine, so I
made a clear one out of aluminum angle and two pieces of lexan. Write me off
