I must say this thread read like a Perry Mason episode!

No sooner did Perry report the problem...than Paul Drake and
his associates went to work and solved the problem.

Joking aside - (though I am a serious Perry Mason fan) - that was
really interesting.

Colin's "virtual" tour of his interior layout (wiring wise) was fascinating.
Not that I have an early Sovereign...yet...but still to be able to picture
what is behind the walls...to better understand the bigger picture is
invaluable.

What about another chapter of the Vintage Airstream photo archives...
"under the skins" of various years and models that are
currently apart...(we know there are a few out there...) along with
reports of what owners discover "behind the scenes".

While it's possible that many different things might show up...depending
on whether a trailer was built on a Monday or a Friday...etc..it still
would be interesting reference - at least for those of us who like to
approach a mystery with as much prior info as possible.

Thanks again for the detailed input and reporting.

I don't read mysteries, not even Sherlock Holmes. The authors ALWAYS
know in the back of their mind as they drop hints of evidence what the
final answer will be so they don't always have to include all the
detectable and needed evidence. Real world electrical and fire mysteries
are nearly always more complex and more of a challenge to solve.

Yesterday I attempted to hook up the sewer connection on my 1974 31'
Soverign.
Much to my dismay the part attached to the trailer came off in my hand. It
seemed to just slide into the opening with no retainer present. Now it leaks
around the opening. I would appreciate any info on this sbject. What holds
this piece in the trailer? How does one seal it to keep it from leaking.
thanks in advnce

Sorry to hear about your sewer connection problem. However I don't know
anything about how the 74's are configured. You may want to post a
question on AirstreamForums, there are lots of folks there that may have
some insight for you. Here's a link if you aren't already registered:

It's free & there's a wealth of knowledge within the
membership...besides, it's fun!

Good Luck ~

Shari :)
