Hey- time to get the trailers out of hibernation in the tobacco barn they're
lounging in- but thanks to my 'friendly neighbors' I can't keep them at my
house where we pay taxes and they're prefectly legal ( don't get me started)
so I'm on the hunt for a (cheap) facility in Western Mass or even SE Vermont
where one could fix, polish, keep etc. a bevy of these units- any tips? Plus
I hope to be 'takin it to the street' end of June- general NE orientation
with a nice DelMarVa crab eating jaunt- where's the good places near
Crisfield to park and let the dog hit the beach? Thanks! Chris Rollins

Chris,

Have you contacted the Good Sam Club about keeping your trailers at your
house? They have a good reputation for challenging the ordinance
makers.

I polished my '76 Tradewind 25' approx. 2 1/2 years ago and it has
gradually re-oxidized to the point that it badly needs to be
re-polished. My weary old arms can no longer do it and I'm now looking
for a polisher to redo it for me. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, but I'm
driving to New Mexico next week, passing through northern Arizona and
could drop it off in any of those 3 states. Anyone know of a polisher in
that vicinity? Thanks.

Subject: [VAL] Washing question

Further to my re-polishing question, I need to know what soap to use
wash a polished Airstream. I have taken mine through truck stop truck
washes and 50 cent car washes and now have streaks that are very
difficult to remove. I don't want to make the same mistakes again. What
should I use to wash it after I re-polish?

My wife had an interesting idea that I'd like to pass on. She wonders if
the Vintage Airstreamers would be interested in compiling recipes to
make a Vintage Airstream Cookbook. Assuming this hasn't been done
before, please feel free to email me your favorite recipes and we'll see
how many we get and whether this idea is worth persuing. Thanks.

Maybe you could try that "no dry" car wash that's on
the market now - I'm guessing it has wax in there to
help the water bead and run off.

Hi Marv,
We've always used Dove dish washing liquid soap to wash the Airstream.

I have found a Honda EU2000 for 899.00 with free shipping. Good price? Any
recommendations for places to buy these?

Hi Tom:

I got one about this time two years ago from Alemia, Inc in CO for $845.
Since I have not seen any available for that low a price. So, IMO, $899 is
pretty good. However, note that the price that I got included free shipping
AND no sales tax, IOW it was $845 delivered. They charging you tax? If
not, sounds good to me. Maybe even IF so.

GQ: No sales tax and no shipping charges. Thanks for your response. I
thought this sounded like a good price. This is a company in Wisconsin, over the
internet.

years ago. Please let me know where I can get one, I need 2 for my A/C

Pete: The site is Speedwaysales.com and the phone is 1-888-61-SPEED. I
called them and they said they had the Honda EU2000 in stock for $899.00. I live
in Utah and they said no sales tax to Utah and no shipping charges. This may
be different depending on where you live.

Missing interior or exterior rivets just don't happen.

The primary cause for their failure is lack of proper running gear balance.

Vibrations set up that will snap the heads off of rivets.

Proof????

A parked Airstream doesn't lose rivets.

Thanks Tom,
Small world, I just moved to Florida from Utah. I was stationed at Hill AFB
in Ogden. I'm retired in Tampa now. I'll check them out.

Tom:
Dealer price is about $777 for that unit unless you're really big
(like WallMart or something), so that's a pretty good price - is it
from a local dealer where you can turn for service or is it an internet
or similiar price - what I call "Love 'em and Leave 'em" marketing?

All:
In the interest of complete disclosure, let me tell you that my
brothers are small business owners and Honda dealers. They love it when
someone brings in a "look what a great price I got on this item" to
them for service and warranty work. I remember my Dad telling us at the
dinner table (once upon a time) about a customer he'd had that day. The
guy told my dad that Sears (or somebody Big) had the same mower for
$400 and my dad's price was $450. So of course my dad asked the guy why
didn't he just buy it from Sears. Guy says "Well, they were out of
them." So Dad said, "Well, if I were out of them, I'd sell 'em for
$350".
