Subject: [VAL] Unit Quartermasters

Hello All,
First and foremost I'll apologize at the beginning for the
NON-VAC/RESTORATION post!
After letting the cat -out-of -the bag about being my Unit's
Quartermaster I have received a number of e-mails from this list
requesting berets and some other items. I'll be glad to help any of you
out but would also like to tell you that your local WBCCI Unit should
also have one of these positions. What a Quartermaster is responsible
for in the WI Unit of the WBCCI is for obtaining the Past President
Flags, PP awards, state flags, a pole, have some berets available as
well as some other WBCCI goodies for the membership to purchase at the
rallies. I inherited the job from a gentleman who had his act together
so its not so hard to work this out. I have a list of "Stuff" available
from WBCCI Jackson Center that is only hard copy, I'm going to have to
work on getting an electronic version and keep it up to date. All this
activity is going to make me take inventory to see just what I have in
my inherited suite case. If your interested in obtaining WBCCI items you
can: 1. Check with Jackson Center WBCCI. 2. Find out who your Unit
Quartermaster is as ask them what they might have. 3. Drop me a line and
I'll try to help you WBCCI members out with what you want. (please keep
in mind that I'm only interested in moving some inventory that might be
getting older and helping my Unit raise some money to update my stock.
In short I'm offering my services and inventory to help strengthen my
Unit). For those of you who have contacted me I'll be glad to help you
out as requested!

Thanks to all of you for the support you have given me over the past
couple of days, I'm glad most of you think I'm working in the right
direction for the VAC/WBCCI.

Can we all see what happens when matters not directly related to travel
trailers/motorhomes are posted to this list?
Even organizational matters having to do with an RV club don't really
belong here.

CPVC is for both hot and cold water while PVC is for cold only.
Installers use PVC on cold water lines because it is a little cheaper
than CPVC.
Underground water lines, including water mains, are often PVC. Whether
the last few feet of water supply line, the part in your RV, is of PVC or
not makes little difference.

Harbor Freight has been running a digital volt-ohm-amp meter for $3.99
recently. It goes to 750 VAC, 1000 VDC and 10 amps DC.

availability and easy installation, I used CPVC.

visit has all its underground water lines run in PVC. The water supply
line to your home, if it was installed in the last 30 years, is probably
PVC. I believe that PEX is the best choice for trailer water lines, but
we won't escape PVC for cold water delivery lines anytime soon. Miles and
miles of it are being installed in the US every day. Let's hope it's not
poisoning us because it's everywhere.

Jim,

All we need is two people, right? All you have to do is find me! I'll be
hanging around Hunter Hampton's trailer #2268. She the Airstream list on
Yahoo, and she'll be having a list get together, don't know when, but
when I do I post it here and also our location, maybe....I'm staying in
a hotel. Too far from MA and it might snow any minute....

Hi Daisy,
I am going to drive down without my wife and the dogs, so thought I
might want to stay in a hotel too. Do you have one picked out? It's
not too far to drive or bad weather, but I can only stay two days and it
just would be easier to drive down and hotel it for the night. If you
have a hotel to suggest, I would appreciate any information you can
share.

Thanks,

Peter
This was taken from one of Terry Tyler's previous post about one in New
Orleans.

"A few states (Louisiana is one) honor the Golden Age
Passport 50% discount (age 62+) at their campgrounds. In New Orleans
(NOLA),
we're staying at Bayou Signette State Park CG for $6 a night with water
and
30 amp electric - on a macadam site with picnic table, fire ring, a
modern
laundry room nearby, showers, dump station, playground, trash pickup and
the
usual security staff so common in southeastern states. That's
economical"
Hope this helps

We have never camped in the New Orleans area and seek the advice of those
who have. We
want to be within a ten mile radius of downtown and will be traveling with
our dog Greta. We would consider secure non-campground locations as well.

You might look at Bayou Segnette State Park. It is probably 20 minutes from
the French Quarter.

My wife, Star, and I will be traveling from N. E. Pennsylvania to New
Orleans, LA for a convention on March 25th - 27th 2004. We have never
camped in the New Orleans area and seek the advice of those who have. We
want to be within a ten mile radius of downtown and will be traveling with
our dog Greta. We would consider secure non-campground locations as well.

Thank you in advance for your help and, by the way, we offer overnight
parking north of Philadelphia, PA. For the top recommendation we will offer
two nights parking and a tour of the surround area. Just kidding, we do
that anyway!

Subject: [VAL] Back on Topic - Mirrors

For those of you who tow with a car. I have a mirror question, what do
you do for extension mirrors. Where do you mount them on the door or on
the front fender? I have a set of McKesh mirrors which came with our
trailer, but I have not needed them on the Powerwagon since it has Jr.
West Coast mirrors which have an overall width of 102". On the Lincoln,
should I mount them on the fenders or the doors? They seem too long to
fit on the fenders and the doors seem to close to the driver to see
properly. Any suggestions?

Also, does anyone have a source for a mirror to mount on the trailer
jack to facilitate hookup. I have a mirror to mount on the truck
tailgate to facilitate one person hookup, but there is no tailgateon the
Lincoln to attach to.
