Re: [VACList] 12V fuse block

Thanks for a great read Dr. G. I have begun doing the electrical on a '77
Argosy Minuet. My tow vehicle is a Toyota Tundra. I have read many
different tips from other sources, and am surprised how many of these tips
were flawed. Isolating the trailer battery from the starting load is a very
good idea. One tip for my Tundra was to use a continues duty relay wired
to the wipers. This would work great to keep the trailer from drawing down
the truck battery when the key is off, but would not isolate the trailer
battery from the starting load.

Here is a question. How about a diode in the charging line? What are those
diodes rated for in a high capacity alternator? I have an old one lying
about. I would guess that 30 amps would be a minimum. Would they need a
heat sink? The Tundra does not have a relay like your Ford. Would I be
better off using a relay triggered off the generator?

Thanks for the tip about the fuses at both sides of the charge line. My
trailer wiring is a mess, and I am cleaning it up. Any good sources for a
fuse block on the net? I would like to just trash the old cobbled up one.

Any other tips would be appreciated. If there are any other Tundra owners
out there a tip on how to get my Prodigy wired to the green-white cold wire
at the top of the brake switch would be appreciated.
