Whit, that's harder to "pull through" than it looks. The best arrangement
for a manual awning I have seen was on Doug Rowbottom's trailer. He attached
some hooks to the rail and the awning had grommets that went over the hooks.
It was a one person operation with a short ladder to reach the hooks from
the side. I bull through works best with two people -- one to pull and one
to thread the awning into the rail.
