Long time no....

Several years ago we spent the better part of a year just north of Taos, NM,
which is at that elevation +/- in our Safari.  Lemme tell ya, I was
surprised at how nasty the bugs were.  Gnats, no-see-ums, and little
mosquitos that left real nasty infectious type bites.  And once in a while
we would have to run the AC.

So we went back to CA where there truly aren't many to speak of.  At least
pests of that type....
