[VAC] Re: An adequate tow vehicle



Joe,

One has to remember the object of towing is not how fast you can go, but how 
well it can get you there in one piece. The only thing you have to rember is 
does the tow vehicle have enough torque & horse power and is the 
chassis / running gear rated for what you want to do. Also of torque and horse 
power, torque is the most important item. What most people don't know is alot 
of the 18 wheelers out on the road are only running at a couple hundred horse 
power but their low end torque is quite high. Thats why combined with the proper 
trans and rearend they can haul total vehicle weights of 80,000lbs or more. No 
they don't go blazing past cars, but they get up that mountain.
