Many owners apparently are not aware that Airstream switched to the Magnetec
several years ago. However Airstream still calls it a "Univolt." Perhaps
that's the cause of the confusion.

The Magnetec, if you wish, is "solid state." It does not have the inherent
problems that the old style Univolts had. Large capacitors and transformers
are a thing of the past.

The weight of the old univolts that owners refer to is 25.4 pounds.
It's replacement Magnetec weighs 8.6 pounds, and does not need to have a
battery in the circuit, to still function correctly.
