[VAC] Re: Wee Wind Spare Tire Holder

Gerald:

None of the 1949 or earlier (nor perhaps slightly later)
Airstream trailers had factory made spare tire carriers.
Apparently spare tires were kept in the trunk of the tow
vehicle. When storage compartments with exterior doors were
added in 1950/51 or thereabouts, the spare tire was often
stored in that compartment.

But your Wee Wind has no such compartment, so you will
have to fabricate something. Before you do, measure
carefully to make sure there is enough room for a spare tire
& carrier to fit (presumably) behind your propane bottles
without moving them too far forward so they hit the tow
vehicle on sharp turns. The pipe frame ahead of the body
was typically only 2 feet long, just enough room for only
one or two side-by-side propane bottles, so there may not be
sufficient space for mount a spare tire there even if you
wihsed to do that. Or carry the spare tire in your tow
vehicle trunk.
