Ok...let's put this issue to rest. (Dr. J is right)
My 1968 Caravel has VERTICAL shocks. I took the old ones to the local auto parts store and purchased some Gabriel gas shocks (now installed on the trailer). I was also able to locate the grease seals at NAPA using the old National product number 6362. Just type the old product number into their website and voila!
