[VAC] Re: help identify this unit

Easy one. They are correct, it is a 1959 18 foot Ohio "Caravel". The serial
# is 18 D 0153, a format that puts it only in 1959. Depending on how the
workman stuck the indenter, you can get some awful looking numbers
sometimes.

You can tell it is a Ohio trailer vs a California "Traveler" by the peaked
wheelwell. It has a curbside bed in back (notice the location of the
storage compartment?), and it looks like someone has replaced the Bargman 99
taillights with some generic things. Notice the 7 panel ends? Post '57.

There never was an 18 footer with a nameplate, so the names are generally
accepted monikers obtained from Airstream catalogs and price sheets.

I have a couple of examples of 18 footers in the archive sections, and the
VAC catalogs in the members area from the late '50's has some floorplans &
Spec's.

Merry Christmas everyone!
