As far as I can tell there is only one rubber hose on mine.  It goes from
the fresh air intake to the combustion chamber.  Its around 2-1/4" ID and
1-1/4" long.

If your suspicious of it, probably better not to use it.

I feel pretty good about mine after I went through it.  Everything is tight
and secure.  I will however, be installed the co detector before we get out
using it.
