I was given a couple of running light assemblies as spares. There is a cork
gasket for them, but it appears to be intended for use between the backing
plate and the lense. I would suggest some type of gasketing be used between
the skin and the backing plate, even if it is Vulkem. The opening in the
skin for the wiring needs to be water tight. But as you also noticed, there
needs to be a ground for the light. Generally the screws holding the plate
in place perform the grounding function as well.
