It'll either be 2" or 2 5/16", there is no 2 1/4" to my knowlege. You
should be able to put that 2" ball into the hitch, close/latch the
hitch, and it should be nice and snug, no extra play, and it should
definitely not fall out. If it's loose, then you probably have a 2 5/16"
hitch.

In case I'm not 100% clear, I mean that you should try the ball when
it's NOT mounted on the tow vehicle; it can be attached to the ball
mount or stinger if you wish.

It should be very obvious.
