[VAC] Removing Front Steps

I need to remove the steps under the front door of 
my '70 Overlander.  It needs welding, general cleaning 
up and lubricating.  I looked under the trailer and 
couldn't see an easy way to remove the unit.  Does 
anyone have any experience doing this?
