[VAC] Re: Repairing a black tank

Jodi and John,
I believe that my '65 GT bathroom is identical to your '65 Caravel. If so,
I believe that you can get by without taking any of the cabinets apart.
There's a protrusion on the bottom of your tank where the drain attaches.
It sticks down a couple of inches(through the floor). You'll have to
disconnect the drain, the vent, and the closet flange--of course the toilet
has to come out. After that, the tank should lift up slightly and slip out,
but if it binds, you can drill out the rivets that hold up the toilet side
of the bathroom enclosure and remove the screws that hold the wall to the
floor and wall of the trailer. That should allow just enough wiggle room to
get it out.

BTW, mine had the same crack around the top. I had hoped that it was the
only problem, but when I pulled it, I found several cracks on the bottom
too. So you might want to get ready to pull the whole tank.

Good luck,
Jason Guynes
