[VAC] A Heartwarming Story

Once upon a time, there was a big girl named Daisy, who tried too late
to go to the VAC White Mountain Rally. They were full, alas. So Daisy
decided to climb in her big black truck and drive up for the open house
part. Just a quick jaunt, you know. It takes 3.5 hours to get from
Daisy's house to Conway NH, so she got there for the last half hour of
the open house. Daisy had never seen the inside of any other Airstreams
(besides her '73 Ambassador) so she was very excited. Then she began to
realize a wonderful thing. All the people that lived in these old
airstreams (and new) were friendly and welcoming, letting Daisy see what
they kept in their bathtubs and ask all sorts of questions. Then Daisy
realized that she had at last found a whole group of people that
actually LIKED to talk about caulk and 12V systems and black tanks and
blue tanks and who has the biggest puller and... Daisy was thrilled.

Then Daisy was asked to stay for the meeting (near anarchy) and then to
stay for dinner (yummy on John McKew and Ruth Baldwin's plate) and then
to spend the night ! The back of the truck was fine with Marilyn's
mattress and quilt and pillow and Russ and Gladys' front lawn. And no
mosquitos.

The next day, Daisy had breakfast with her new friends and went back to
reality, 3.5 hours a way. But she felt great, like a kid that had an
adventure, and she didn't even bring her toothbrush !

The moral of the story is, if you have never been to a VAC event, sign
up now, go far and you won't regret a minute of it. And the other moral
is join the Washington DC unit for fun and frolic and lots of talking
trailer times.

Thanks to all those who were there,

Next time IN the airstream.

Yippee!

Daisy
