The discount insurance companies achieve their low rates by insuring
only known good risks and low cost vehicles which eliminates vintage
vehicles and trailers. They want to be able to KNOW the value from
checking at the corner used car lot. They want the vehicle to not have a
chance of dying of old age or lack of maintenance. They want the driver
to have an impeccable driving record. They are not interested in
vehicles that have been restored or that have some intrinsic value
greater than junk. To them a vehicle from the 60's should have been
scrapped 20 years ago (before they were born). They are not alone in
this opinion, the EPA and the vehicle manufacturers like that idea too
because it can mean less pollution and greater vehicle sales.
