It may take a stiffer rear spring or a traction bar to keep the higher
torque 3.73 axle from winding the leaf spring around the axle. But while
I thought I noticed some of that with the stock 3.08 gears in my '98
F-150, I've not noticed nearly as much wheel hop with the 4.10 gears
though the truck really takes off.

In the newer trucks, the speedometer calibration is in the computer so
changing tire sizes or gears is easily compensated. I had to change the
speedometer sensor gear in mine.
