[VAC] Re: Leaking tank for hot water(replace?)

If you can get to the tank and determine that it is not a connection
that is leaking, but the tank itself, you are probably faced with
replacing the waterheater... Replacement water heaters are available
from most RV supply houses...The labor involved to replace
the water heater is about comperable or less than the labor to repair
the tank...(assuming you have to remove the tank)
There are a number of devices that are used to repair pin hole leaks and
might hold for a time, however if you are going to travel,
the water heater will get bounced around and will probably spring a leak
somewhere else....If that is the original heater, I would say
that it lasted well..I replaced our water heater in the 78 Safari and
upgraded to combo electric / LP with electrinic ignition... after a
season with it working just great, I'm glad I did....
I may go a little over the top on concern about LP devices... We
replaced the furnace as well and I'm happy about that as
well...There is not much of the old system to worry about... new tanks,
new regulator, new hosess, new WH and new furnace....

Good luck in your travels,
Jim
