The Glimpse search software utilizes
Unix, because that is what is used by the Server on which the website
resides. Your browser can use the search engine just fine.
To use it, just type in the string
(words you are interested in finding) and hit the submit button. You will
be returned the number of files specified that contain the string you
entered. You can click on these for more detail. Play with it.
You will find that it is not difficult at all. As the explanations
says though, the site is huge, and you might want to narrow your search down a
little to get your answer faster. You have choices in your search ranging
from the entire site, down to an individual month for one or the other of the
Airstream e-mail lists. For an individual month, go to the listings of
postings for that month, and click on the word "Search".
